ABOUT LIGHTS ON
Lights On is a recreation program designed to keep youth off the streets by providing home cooked meals, mentorship, and activities for boys and girls such as sports, crafts, video & board games. Sponsored by the West Side High School Alumni Association, Lights On! runs from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at West Side High School throughout the summer and on Friday evenings during the school year. The program is open to the entire community and serves over 250 young people each night.
Lights On! is almost all privately funded and sponsorship opportunities are available. While we do not receive any public or governmental funds from the city, county, state or federal level, Newark Public Schools provides some in-kind donations including security, police and custodial staffing for our programming.
Lights On! is completely free and open to the West Side High School student body and surrounding community.
